Teacher Training

I. NSTRUCTIONAL SCHOOL FOR MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE (ISMS)

The Instructional Schools for Mathematics and Science (ISMS) are residential training programs designed to provide an orientation for students of classes 6 to 12, as well as B.Sc. and M.Sc. students. The ISMS aims to expose young minds to the excitement of higher mathematics and science and to guide them toward meaningful careers in these fields. The teaching methodology during the training program differs from regular classroom learning. Participants are encouraged to think critically and independently prove mathematical and scientific concepts. Various outdoor and indoor games, practical activities, and meditation sessions will also be conducted to foster the overall development of the participants. The program is funded by the government or private agencies.

II. Objectives

The objective of the training is to instil a scientific temperament, develop interest, encourage critical thinking, and foster a competitive mindset among students. The ISMS training includes an intensive problem-solving camp to help students prepare for Olympiads and various competitive exams.

III. Teaching Pedagogy

The primary goal of the training camp is not to provide routine lectures, but to encourage participants to think, learn, and analyse and develop independent thinking while exposing students to the excitement of doing mathematical and scientific research.

IV. Program Structure

The Camp will be held for 30 days. In the first session, participants begin with morning exercise and breakfast followed by two periods of interactive classroom teaching of 90 minutes each. After lunch, another interactive teaching session will be held in the first period and the second period will be devoted to tutorials/problem solving and group discussions. There will also be sessions devoted to seminars, yoga, cultural and other activities.

VI. Selection Process

The Talent Search Test in Mathematics and Science (TSTMS) selection process involves a National-Level examination in the respective subjects, and shortlisted students are invited to a training camp.

VII. Fee Structure

The fee for a student’s training camp can vary greatly depending on the camp’s duration, location, activities included, and the organiser. Candidates should not pay fee if it is funded by any government or private agencies.

VII. Instrctional School for Mathematical Sciences 2023
